Survived teaching my first class

Survived teaching my first class on what I've learned on how to save. Thanks to my husband who was a real lifesaver!

Starting out small, I had a total of 8 people in my class; two of which weren't even a part of my church. The wild thing is, they both were from Bell Buckle.

I think that because the class was small, it became very interactive. Because of that it ran over. Started at 9-ish and ended somewhere around 12:30 PM.

The day before the class I "pencil-whipped" a quick survey for folks to fill out. The result? The class was too long, but...no one wanted me to leave anything out.

So.....I am revamping my class once again and will be turning it into at least two separate sessions on the class material I've created already.

I have received a call from one lady who had to leave early. She called me to say that she's already saved over $70.00 so far this week! She is so "pumped" and has already recruited two more people to attend my class.

God is SO good!
I feel so honored to be sending out the message.

My First Rebate Check!

My first rebate check!
This morning I awoke not feeling very well...that is until I noticed that the mail had run early. I was so excited I just had to post this!
The wild part about this rebate check is...the products that I received the check for didn't cost me $3.00 to buy. SC Johnson has a rebate program which will allow you to receive $5.00 "when you buy" (wyb) three of their participating products.
I happened to find that Fantastik was on sale as a "buy one get one" BOGO at my local store.
Scenario:
$2.99 (normal price ea)
- $1.49 (BOGO)
- $0.50 (MFQ)
- $0.50 (Store Dbl policy)
$0.49 FINAL PRICE
I needed to buy three participating products. I buy three papers, which allowed me to buy three and save a bundle!
My total receipt after tax? $2.68 After rebate, I MADE $2.32

SAVED: $1017.05
TOTAL VALUE: $1810.24

I have been spending money at Sam's Club lately, and not liking it. I've got to do some research on what I am paying for some of those kinds of items. I am beginning to feel I can save a whole lot more...when using coupons.

I have been teaching friends and neighbors what I have learned and have decided to track what all of us have been saving so far as well.

The "Triple Play"

Would you believe I bought all four of these for nearly NOTHING?

Yep, The key to saving BIG is to watch for the "lowest sales price" for an item then using a coupon along with the sale. (Some stores will allow you to "stack" coupons to save even more.)

This is what I call a "Triple Play" purchase. Think of baseball game.
First, this product was on sale at my local store. (single hit) I also had a Manufacturer's coupon (MFQ) on this item (Double Play+) AND...my local store takes competitor's coupons! Giving me a "Triple Play"

Here's how it worked out:
$02.00 ea. (2/$4.00)
-$00.35 (MFQ)
-$00.35 (store's doubling coupon policy)
-$01.25 (competitor's coupon $2.50 off on 2)
--------
$00.05 (This is what I actually paid for this item, so I was able to buy more for the rediculous price of FIVE CENTS each!!!

Today's Savings

It is INDEED possible to save a bundle, when you know what you are doing, strategically.

Did my round of shopping this afternoon. Here is the savings:

Walgreen's-Total Value: $ 60.00 Spent: $ 9.53
Kroger-Total Value: $163.82 Spent: $60.42
Publix-Total Value: $134.65 Spent: $49.84

Yep, today was a GREAT day shopping and saving on the "deals" at the store.
